OMG Xanga?

This will be short and sweet. I haven't been here in FOREVER! Who all is still here? And for those of you that don't know, I am in college, majoring in Civil Enginnering, and I am engaged!

OK, told you it was going to be short! Let me know if you guys are still around!

Someone burst my bubble...

Why do I torture myself with the delusion that I could spend the rest of my life with the one I currently love? As much as I would love for that to be the case, the reality is it will likely never happen between college and everything else...

Salt Lake City was AWESOME!

I had SO much fun on my trip. My first time flying  went very smoothly and I love flying in general...security was a little fun since the jeans I was wearing are really loose without a belt on...but luckily they didn't fall down as I walked through the metal detector!  I definitely preferred the smaller commuter jet to the 737, especially since the commuter jet has one row of seats that is both aisle and window seats which was cool. I can't decide whether I like the small airport like Mobile, the medium sized like Salt Lake City, or the huge one like Houston. I am really glad that everyone woke up on time on Thursday and I didn't have to go wake anyone up myself...I was almost scared the bus driver wasn't going to show up but she did! Everything as far as flights went quite smoothly actually.  When we landed in SLC it was a little scary at first when  everyone else had gotten there luggage back and there was still no sign of mine. But then it came fortunately! As soon as we all stepped outside the terminal we all loved the fact that there was absolutely no humidity compared to Mobile. It was so pretty in SLC. All the mountains were gorgeous and such. We got to the hotel and I have to say we all expected more from a Marriott. The hotel itself was pretty nice (aside from being really funkily designed) but the service sucked. They didn't have half of our rooms available till 5 and the rest not till like 8....luckily we had an event in between those times so we weren't just stuck in half the rooms we needed. Anyway, we went to the Hunstman Corporation Corporate headquarters (Hunstman is a fortune 500 chemical company with an awesome building) for dinner. The sunset there was the best I have EVER seen in my life. It was awesome.  We went back  to the hotel not long after dinner and the other activities, and I took a dip in the hot tub (yay for hot tubs!). I'll get to writing about the rest of the trip later....class is almost over so I need to put up my laptop....

Salt Lake City...watch out, because I'll be there in October...

Yay!
So it looks like I will be in Salt Lake City in October...from the 5-8th.

Our school takes 8 students a year at most to the annual NCSSSMST (National Consurtium for Specialized Secondary Schools of Mathematics, Science, and Technology- the consurtium that ASMS is a part of) which this year is in Salt Lake. The school is going to try and completely pay my way so that all I need is spending money or whatever. The official blurb on their website:

"The Academy for Math, Engineering & Science (AMES) along with The University of Utah will host the 2006 NCSSSMST Student Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Plan on arriving for the Welcome Picnic on Thursday, October 5 at 5:00 pm and to depart on Sunday morning, October 8th. Students and chaperones will be attending four half-day sessions:  a boat tour of The Great Salt Lake and its native species; a visit to Kennecott Copper mine, the world’s largest open-pit mine; a tram ride to the top of Snowbird Ski Resort, with a focus on geology and avalanches; a visit to the U of U’s biology department and research labs.  Friday evening will be a chance to explore downtown Salt Lake City with your school group.  You will be responsible for your own dinner but transportation has been arranged for the event. Sessions will be run through Saturday afternoon with a banquet on Saturday evening."

So woot for that. Lets hope it works out because I really want to go...and it would be my first time flying to. Something I have always looked forward to actually...

So, I guess that is about all for now....

Sorry for my first update on Xanga in awhile is gonna be a rant about my parents.

So they call me while I am on the phone with my girlfriend (who they have no clue that she even exists) to ask for money. Apparently because they insisted on going to Birmingham this past weekend (and dragging me along just because they wanted to spend time with me) they spent too much and bounced a check for the electric bill. So now they need to borrow money from me again (there goes another $50...second time now) and it just sucks supporting my parents when I am 17. And then I bring up the fact that they went to B'ham instead of paying people back and so my dad sounded pissed when I was getting of the phone with him, despite the fact that I am loaning him all my money this weekend. WTF? I am totally gonna get an ulcer if they keep acting like this. They seriously need to grow up and stop causing Josh, Jennifer, and I so much grief. So now supposedly they are gonna give me my $100 back at the end of this month...yeah right! They were gonna pay my first $50 back at the end of June....

Oh yeah, and did I mention how my birthday present was "allowing me" to stay in Montgomery to see a friend who was here for the weekend instead of coming home. I didn't get shit other than that from them, and instead got the whole we don't have the money to pay you back card.....
ARRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!
I totally wish I was back at school and could talk to the coolest counselor ever there!

Thanks for reading this, and I hope everyones life is going better than mine at the moment!
